Llan de Cubel

In de noordwest hoek van Spanje ligt de ruige regio Asturië , een gebied dat net als Galicië sterke Keltische wortels heeft, roots die je vanzelfsprekend ook terug vindt in de muziek. De groep Llan de Cubel (de naam komt van een berg in de regio Cuideiru) promoot al een aantal jaren enthousiast en met veel vakmanschap hun Asturische dansmuziek. Het repertoire vinden ze in de regionale viool- en accordeontradities maar vooral de 'gaita'(doedelzak) muziek is een rijke bron voor swingende melodieën. De sound van Llan de Cubel is akoesties en wordt bepaald door gaita, fiddle, houten dwarsfluit, Asturische en vierkante trom. Gitaar en bouzouki zorgen voor de begeleiding. Asturia is a region in the north western corner of Spain. Like neighbouring Galicia it's culture has traces of Celtic origins. The traditional music is not unlike Irish music and the local bagpipe (gaita) plays a significant role. The group Llan de Cubel is named after a mountain in the Cuideiru region. It has been exploring the riches of their musical heritage and developed an unique sound, using instruments like accordeon, flute, gaita, Asturian and square drums and guitar and bouzouki. Their repertoire consists not only of dance music but also of working and sea songs.
