We zien niet zo heel vaak Schotse top-acts in Nederland maar gelukkig maakt de komst van Breabach nu in één keer veel goed. Dit succesvolle en muzikaal innovatieve kwintet is diep geworteld in de Schotse cultuur en verenigt de sferen en muzikale tradities van de Highlands met die van de westelijke Schotse eilanden en archipels. Het resultaat is een uitgekiende en onnavolgbare sound, soms flink aangeblazen door niet één maar door twee bagpipers. Voor de songs en ballads hebben we de vocals met daarbij de zangstem van fiddler Megan Henderson in de lead. In de meer rustiger instrumentals voeren fluiten en de uillean pipes de boventoon en zo hebben we het hele soundpalet in beeld. Ze maakten al zeven CD’s waarvan de laatste getiteld Fás geïnspireerd is op de natuur en het landschap van Schotland en vooral op het behoud ervan. Braebach won al zes keer de Scots Trad Music Award, ze waren  ‘Best Group” bij de BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards en hun album Fás werd vorig jaar door Songlines Magazine uitgeroepen tot European Album of the Year.

Securely ranked among Scotland’s most skilled and imaginative contemporary folk acts, Breabach unite deep roots in Highland and Island tradition with the innovative scottish music scene. 2022 saw them release their latest studio album ‘Fàs’ and be awarded ‘Folk Band of the Year’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards. To date they have released seven increasingly acclaimed albums, whilst fuelling their creative appetites in collaborations with BAFTA award winning animator Cat Bruce on short film Dùsgadh, indigenous Australasian artists Moana & The Tribe, Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord, video game composer Big Giant Circles and as artists-in-residence at 2019’s Celtic Colours festival with Cape Bretoners, Beòlach.

Following a successful first tour of the United States, 2023 sees the band continuing to tour in support of their latest release, with live dates throughout the UK and Europe. Fàs (a Gaelic word meaning growth, developing & sprouting). The album is heavily inspired by the natural environment of Scotland and sees the band showcase more progressive elements in their music than ever before. Produced by esteemed musician Inge Thomson, engineered & mixed by Iain Hutchison at GloWorm Recording Studios in Glasgow and mastered by Peter Beckmann, the record also features collaborations with analogue synth player Keir Long and Gaelic lyricists & musician Ewen Henderson. The protection, conservation and regeneration of the natural world influenced every part of the album making process, from song composition and sourcing material to the recording process and album production.
